Creating and Managing Offers
Context
As a syndicator, you create subscription offers that specify content available for transfer and give details of the transfer process. By subscribing to such offers, subscribers can initiate the content transfer.
When you create an offer, you specify the following:
-
Offer components (the content to be delivered).
-
Delivery rules (delivery mode and schedule).
-
A maximum transfer volume (together with a URL and credentials for the separate download of content exceeding this volume). This step is optional.
You can add, change, or delete components of existing offers. If you change an offer for which subscribers have already created subscriptions, the next content update synchronizes the content in the subscriber system.
Subscriptions always refer to offers. Changes to a syndicator's offers induce changes in the subscriptions that reference these offers. For example, if you delete an offer component, the content specified in this component is no longer included in the subscription and is deleted from the subscriber's site when the next content update takes place. In the same way, changes to the delivery rules for offers are propagated to the subscriptions that reference the offer.
You can also delete a complete offer. If you do so, any subscriptions that still exist receive no more content updates.
