Point of Delivery Groups

Definition

A point of delivery group is made up of definable grouping characteristics for points of delivery.

Use

These allow you to group points of delivery in your system according to project-specific criteria. You set up these groupings with reference to deregulation processes. You can also allocate points of delivery to point of delivery groups defined for specific deregulation processes.

You can define service provider agreements with reference to point of delivery groups (see Service Provider Agreement ) .

This section describes how to define point of delivery groups and allocate points of delivery to them.

You can allocate a point of delivery to a group for a deregulation process according to a wide range of criteria. Project-specific factors are among those that play a role when defining these criteria. The standard solution contains an allocation logic, which is described below.

An enhancement option is available for defining an allocation logic based on project-specific criteria.

Integration

Allocation to Point of Delivery Groups According to Rate Category

You can define an allocation logic in Customizing so that points of delivery are assigned to point of delivery groups (for the individual deregulation processes) according to the rate categories assigned to the point of delivery.

Executing the Allocation Logic

You can use the program Generation of Point of Delivery Groups (REIDEUIPODGROUPGENERATE) to refresh the allocation of all the points of delivery in the system to point of delivery groups.

Since the program processes all the points of delivery in the system, this requires a long runtime.

Recommendation Recommendation

We recommend that you only execute the report if a large number of changes have been made to the allocation criteria for point of delivery groups.

If the allocation criteria for certain points of delivery change as a result of higher level processes (for example, a change to the rate category when a new product is selected), we recommend that you attempt to synchronize refreshing the allocation to the point of delivery groups with the higher level process.

Manual Allocation

In addition to automatic allocation of points of delivery to PoD groups, you can also allocate a point of delivery to a chosen group manually. The allocation logic defined for the automatic assignment is irrelevant in this case.

Choose the PoD Groups tab page in the transaction Change Point of Delivery .

To allocate the point of delivery manually to a point of delivery group, choose Assign PoD Group Manually .

You can also deactivate allocations that were made automatically.
