Period-Based Quantity Update In addition to the Quantity Update of Total Quantity the period-based quantity update allows you to record waste quantities for any time period.

The chosen time periods may not overlap and must not exceed the validity of the waste approval.
The period-based quantity update calculates the sum of the quantities in the disposal documents that are assigned to the waste approval and waste code, and whose key date for generation, transport, or disposal falls within the specified period.
The system monitors whether the quantity calculated exceeds the licensed quantity for the period. You can choose between three graded system responses in Customizing.
You have specified the period-based quantity update in the Customizing activity
Specify Waste Approval Types
in Customizing for
Waste Management.
You have executed report EHSWAR_SETUP_APP_QTY_UPDATE to initialize the period-based quantity update.

You must also execute report EHSWAR_SETUP_APP_QTY_UPDATE, if you previously already activated the period-based quantity update and you now want to reactivate it after a period of deactivation.
The
No Quantity Check
indicator is
not set in the waste approval.

If you remove the set
No Quantity Check
indicator for a period-based quantity, this quantity becomes relevant for the checks and monitoring, and for the period-based quantity update. Period-based quantities were not updated for this entry because the indicator was set. The update may be incomplete.SAPtherefore recommends that you execute report EHSWAR_SETUP_APP_QTY_UPDATE to record waste quantities that are disposed of in the interim.
One of the following date entries is available in the system to calculate the key date for the period-based quantity update in the disposal document:
Handover date of the waste generator
Handover date of the waste transporter
Acceptance date of the waste disposer
The system determines the key date in the disposal document from these date entries in the order given.

If the system cannot determine a date entry, then the period-based quantity update does not take place for the medium or high tolerance either. The total quantity for the waste code is updated in the proper manner in the waste approval (independently of the key date).
If you chose the low tolerance in the period-based quantity check, the total quantity is not updated.
When you activate the period-based quantity update, you can choose between three tolerance levels: low, medium or high. The checks for all three tolerance levels are similar to the update of total quantities. However, the system responses are different:
Low tolerance
If the total licensed quantity for the period is exceeded, you cannot save the disposal document and you see an error message. It does not matter whether a sufficient total quantity is available for the waste code.
If the total licensed quantity for the period is reached exactly, this is allowed, and the disposal document can be saved.

If you want to monitor period-based quantity update restrictively, we recommend the
Low tolerance for period-based quantity check
setting.
Medium tolerance
If the total licensed quantity for the period is exceeded, a warning message is issued and the disposal document can be saved.
If the total alert quantity for the period is reached exactly or exceeded, you can save the disposal document.
High tolerance
If the total licensed quantity for the period is exceeded, you can save the disposal document.
If the total alert quantity for the period is reached exactly or exceeded, you can save the disposal document.

If the period-based update for the waste approval type is relevant to monitoring, we recommend that you do
not use the
High tolerance for period-based quantity check
setting.
Irrespective of the tolerance level that you selected, the total quantities that are licensed for the approval and for the waste code must not be exceeded. As soon as the quantity disposed of exceeds the total licensed quantity, no more disposal documents can be created on the basis of this waste approval with this waste code.
Use the
Valid From
and
Valid To
fields in the waste approval to specify the time periods for the quantity update.

You can approve and record waste quantities for more than one time period for each waste approval and for each waste code. The time periods may not overlap and must not exceed the validity of the waste approval.
In the
Period
field, enter an additional description for the validity period that is specified in the
Valid From
and
Valid To
fields.

This field is not considered during the checks and is only used for documentation purposes.
In the
Licensed Quantity
field, enter the licensed waste quantity for the selected time period.

The total of the individual, licensed, period-based quantities must not exceed the licensed quantity in the waste code.
In the
Alert Quantity
field, enter the waste quantity that must be reached in the
Quantity Disposed of for Period
field before the system issues a warning. The appearance of a warning regarding the alert quantity depends on the tolerance settings made in Customizing. To ensure that a warning message appears, choose the
Low Tolerance
(see above).
Set the
No Quantity Check
indicator if the period-based entry is just for documentation and is not to be included in the quantity update. This deactivates some of the checks. For example, the periods can overlap, so you are free to enter any period.

You can also set the indicator for previous data from an earlier release. This suppresses errors in the dialog until the entries for the period-based quantity update are adjusted.
