Editing the Output Variant

Use

When you edit output variants, you specify the value assignment types for which the system displays data when output with the output variant. For output variants that are based on the standard output variant SUB_OUTPUT, you also specify which other specification data is output and how the data is arranged and output.

You can use the output variants defined in Customizing as copy templates (see Copying or Moving Output Variants), and edit and save the copies as you require. In this way, you can create frequently used output variants and store them in the required output variant group.

Note Note

The EMPTY group contains the output variants you defined in Customizing. You cannot save changes to the output variants in this group.

End of the note.

Using the Editing the Output Variant Header procedure you can enter general data, such as the key and description of an output variant.

Prerequisites

  • You have change authorization for the output variant group in which the output variant you want to edit is located.

  • You have run a specification search or loaded a set of hits and are on the hit list screen or on the screens for editing the header data of a specification.
