Filling

Purpose

Within the specification workbench in the Basic Data and Tools component, you can classify materials and, depending on the dangerous goods regulation, assign them to an identification number (UN, ID, or NA number) and related legal data.

The Filling process is used to transfer the dangerous goods basic data that you created and edited in specification management to the dangerous goods master within an SAP system. You can use the distribution process to transport this data to other SAP systems.

Prerequisites

  • If you want to take engineering change management into account during filling, you need to have set the indicator Active for each of the corresponding change numbers for the object categories Specification, Phrase, and Dangerous Goods, and also have used the change numbers.

  • The data can be filled from Specification Management to the Dangerous Goods Master and from there be distributed to other target systems. Data from Specification Management thereby prepares data of the dangerous goods master and this in turn prepares the data of the target systems. To ensure that data is not lost during this process, you need to have processed the data completely in specification and phrase management.

    Caution Caution

    The Dangerous Goods Master contains fields that can only be processed manually in the dangerous goods master (see: Non-Fillable Fields). Since no values are delivered for these fields during filling, the values of these fields are prepared depending on how you have processed the checkbox structure in the Customizing activity Specify Checkbox Structure for Dangerous Goods Master.

  • While performing the value assignment for the danger label number in Specification Management you have processed your entries in the correct sequence. Only the first seven danger label numbers can be considered in this multiple value field.

  • The active indicator must be set in the usage for all value assignments that are to be transferred (see: Usage).

  • In Customizing, under Basic Data and Tools, in the activity Specify Ratings, assign the highest priority for the rating whose value assignments you want to transfer to the dangerous goods master.

    Note Note

    • If you have assigned the same highest priority to value assignment instances within a value assignment type, the value assignment type is not filled.

    • If you have not set any value assignment instance to Active within a value assignment type, the value assignment type is not filled.

    • If you have not set the value assignment instance with the highest priority to Active within a value assignment type, the value assignment type is not filled.

  • Make sure that you use only standard units when processing the data in the specification database.

  • Make sure that no interval values have been processed as a value assignment. During filling, the system interprets interval values as if no value existed.

  • Make sure that only values for 15° C, 20° C, and 50° C are entered for the value assignment type Density, and that the units match. During filling, the system interprets values for other temperatures as if no value existed.

  • Use the Business Add-In (BAdI) Filter Specifications for Filling if you have assigned multiple specifications to individual materials. For more information, see Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management, under BAdI: Filter Specifications for Filling.

  • During filling:

    • No data relevant for dangerous goods is to be processed in Specification Management in the source system.

    • You may not process any data in the dangerous goods master in the Dangerous Goods Management component.

    Data records that are in process in the dangerous goods master are not filled.

  • You have configured the Customizing of Dangerous Goods Management for filling.

  • You have the required authorizations.

    You must be able to read the data from the specification database, as well as be able to create, display, change, and delete the data in the dangerous goods master.

Process

  1. You call the filling and enter selection criteria as required, to restrict the data transfer to certain data.

    Note Note

    A special transaction is used to copy data for dangerous goods storage classes, VbF classes, and water pollution classes to the warehouse management system only.

  2. The system transfers the data records for filling the dangerous goods master tables DGTMD, DGTM2, and DGTPK, for which the logical key can be formed uniquely using the material and dangerous goods regulation.

Result

  • The data is available in Dangerous Goods Management. Depending on the authorization you are assigned, you can edit the data.

    You can start a simulation.

  • The dangerous goods data can be distributed to other target systems.

Comments

  • You can only perform a filling with change pointer once a day. You should schedule the filling shortly after midnight to ensure that the system takes all changes into account.

  • The filling supports only one instance for dangerous goods classifications. No additional, inactive instances may be specified. If more than one instance is specified, it is not possible to predict which instance the system will use for filling.

  • In principle, during filling, the system takes into account whether instances are indicated as relevant for dangerous goods, meaning that if you have classified an instance as not relevant for dangerous goods, this instance is not filled.
