Maintaining Aliases of WSRP Producers

Use

Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing

Applies to: consumers

Every WSRP connection is identified by a unique alias. The producer alias is used in various user interfaces in the portal to identify the producer portal; for example the Registration editor and the Identity Management tool.

When you consume content from a remote producer portal through WSRP application sharing , the corresponding content objects that are generated on the consumer portal include a reference of the producer alias, which links the object to the respective producer portal. For example, in proxy-to-portlet iViews the alias is written to the iView's producerID property.

When you create a WSRP connection on the consumer portal, the portal automatically generates a primary alias for the producer based on its producer ID. If the alias is already used by another system in your portal, an underscore is added to the suffix of the initial alias until a unique one is formed.

This topic describes how to view and manage the aliases assigned to a WSRP connection.

Prerequisites

  • You are assigned to the portal role that contains the Federated Portal workset. By default this is the System Administration role.

  • You have created a WSRP connection on the consumer portal. For more information, see Creating WSRP Connections to Producers .

  • You have been assigned at least administrator read permission to the producer object.

Procedure

Launching the WSRP Connection Aliases Editor

Do any of the following:

  • If you are currently editing the producer object of the WSRP connection, choose System Aliases in the link bar.

  • If you are not editing the producer object of the WSRP connection, then do the following:

    1. In the consumer portal, navigate to Start of the navigation pathSystem Administration Next navigation step Federated Portal Next navigation step  Non-SAP - WSRP Connections Next navigation step  Manage My WSRP ProducersEnd of the navigation path.

    2. In the Portal Catalog, locate the producer object in the WSRP Content Producers folder.

Adding, Changing, and Removing Aliases

In the WSRP Connection Aliases editor you can view the aliases assigned to the WSRP connection.

If you have administrator permission to edit the object, you can also add and remove aliases.

  • To add an alias, enter the name in the empty field in the Defined Aliases area, and then choose Add . The new alias is listed in the Defined Aliases table. An alias can be any name you choose, but it must be unique.

  • To delete an alias, choose the alias listed in the Defined Aliases table and choose Remove .
