Creating Proxy-to-Portlet iViews
Use
|
Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing Applies to: consumers |
This topic describes how to create proxy-to-portlet iViews (in the consumer portal) that are based on remote WSRP-compliant portlets or iViews, which are exposed by a non-SAP or SAP NetWeaver producer portal.
Prerequisites
-
You have added the remote system as a WSRP connection. For more information, see Creating WSRP Connections to Producers .
-
You have registered the WSRP connection. For more information, see Registering Your Consumer Portal with WSRP Producers .
-
You have administrator read permission to the WSRP connection from which you want to retrieve content. For more information, see Assigning Administrator Permissions to WSRP Producer Objects .
-
If you are consuming WSRP content from an SAP NetWeaver producer:
-
You have at least administrator read permission to the remote content located on the producer. For more information, see Exposing iViews on the Producer for 'WSRP Application Sharing' Usage .
-
The content administrator on the producer portal has selected the checkbox of the Expose as WSRP Application property in each iView.
-
-
If you are consuming content from a non-SAP producer, the portal administrator from the producer has configured the portlets so they are exposed to external consumers.
-
You have access to the standard Content Admin role on the consumer portal.
Procedure
You can create proxy-to-portlet iViews using either the Generic Portal Application Layer (GPAL) repositories or the iView wizard. Using GPAL is quicker and the preferred method; however, each method produces the same proxy-to-portlet iView. Note that if you want to create proxy-to-portlet iViews from more than one remote portlet/iView at the same time from the same producer, then you should use the iView wizard.
Creating Proxy-to-Portlet iViews Using GPAL
-
In the consumer portal, navigate to . The Portal Content Studio is launched.
-
In the Portal Catalog, navigate to the WSRP Content folder.
-
In the WSRP Content folder, navigate to the folder of the WSRP connection that corresponds to the remote SAP NetWeaver or non-SAP producer portal on which the target WSRP content resides.
-
In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the remote iViews/portlets, choose Copy .
-
In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the target folder, choose Paste as PCD Object . You must only choose a local PCD folder.
The PCD Object wizard appears. Complete the wizard. A new semantic object is created in the PCD.
Creating Proxy-to-Portlet iViews Using the iView Wizard
-
In the consumer portal, navigate to . The Portal Content Studio is launched.
-
In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the target folder, choose .

To test a proxy-to-portlet iView, right-click it in the Portal Catalog and choose Preview .
You now manage these copied objects as you would with any other local objects; for more information, see Working with Proxy-to-Portlet iViews .
