User Interface in Office

SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in Microsoft Office is displayed within a document when you insert a file into a document. You can view and display any 2D images and 3D scenes in the user interface in exactly the same way as you would were you using the standalone application.

The SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer user interface has the following component parts:

  • Menu options within the add-ins ribbon
  • Viewport
  • Information panel
  • 2D/3D editor toolbar
  • Animation toolbar

The controls for using these functions are either available over the viewport, or are contained in the information panel and toolbars at the edges of the user interface.

The user interface within Microsoft Office has an additional menu, which is accessed from the add-ins ribbon in Microsoft Office applications.

Features

The following menu options are available from the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise add-in menu:

Insert 3D Model Used to insert a 3D file, either from the My 3D Models folder that was created during the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer installation, or the folder of your choice
Insert 3D Model with Context Used to insert a 3D file and perform linking from a context link
Insert SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Access Link Used to insert an Internet shortcut to a SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Access file into the document

In addition to the context menu options that can be found in the standalone Viewer application, Viewer in Office contains an additional Background context menu option, which allows you to set the Viewport's background to either Transparent or Opaque.
  • The Transparent option makes the Viewport background transparent, so that any text or image that is located behind the inserted 3D model is visible.
  • The Opaque option makes the Viewport background opaque. Any text or image behind the inserted 3D model will not be visible.

Both the Transparent and Opaque options are available in PowerPoint only. The Viewport in Word will always be set to have an opaque background.

Activities

Setting the Viewport Background

You can set the Viewport background to transparent or opaque as follows:
  1. Right-click on the Viewport.
  2. Select Start of the navigation pathPreferences Next navigation step BackgroundEnd of the navigation path.
  3. Select Transparent or Opaque, depending on your desired background setting. The option will have a check mark beside it to indicate that it has been selected.
