Working with SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in Office
Use
You can also use the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer user interface within Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. The viewport, information panel, toolbars, and additional menu options constitute your platform for working with SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in Microsoft Office. User interface extensions in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint make it easy to embed 3D content into documents and presentations.
This topic provides you with some general functional information, which is designed to assist you where the functionality differs from that in the standalone SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer. More detailed functional information is provided in other topics.
Features
You can insert 2D and 3D files into PowerPoint presentations and Word documents. Two modes are used to work with 2D images and 3D models once a file is inserted into a document:
-
Image mode: Presents a 2D representation that can be moved and resized using controls. The scene tree and the toolbars are not displayed in image mode.
-
Interactive mode: Presents a 3D representation that can be rotated, panned, scaled, or zoomed. The 3D viewport menus, information panel, 2D/3D Editor toolbars, and Animation toolbar, can be used to control scene settings, objects, materials, and animation.
For PowerPoint and Word, the file is inserted in the image mode with the 'active area' determined by 'controls'. The active area refers to the entire scene in both image and interactive modes.
When files are first inserted into PowerPoint or Word, you may need to resize the active area to display the entire scene tree. If you are using SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author, CAD files should be saved as .rh files before being inserted or dragged into Office documents.
