Volume Select Settings

Use

Using the Volume Select settings in the Tool Assistant, you can create selections based upon rectangular or spherical envelopes. A transparent primitive is used to act as the guiding volume space in which objects will be selected.

Functional Description

Options

Controls the type of volume selection to use. On/Off enables and disables volume selection.

  • Shape: Used to select the shape to use for volume selection. The available shapes are either Cube, which uses a cube shape to select volume, orSphere, which uses a sphere to select volume

  • Select crossed nodes: Include in the selection, all nodes that touch other nodes

Selection Handling

Controls the way in which the volume selection is handled

  • Add to previous selection: Adds the volume selection to the previous selection

  • Create Layer: Creates a new layer with this selection

  • Add to Scene: Adds the volume selection to the scene

Position and Size

Positions the volume selection shape in the viewport interactively

  • Move: Moves the volume selection shape

    • Destination: The selection options for the destination object.

    • Scale: Scales the volume selection shape

    • Position: Determines the position of the volume selection shape in the viewport. You can determine the position of the shape on the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis.

    • Size: Controls the size of the shape. you can determine the size of the shape on the X-axis, the Y-axis, and the Z-axis

    • Radius: The radius of the sphere. Note that this field will only display if the shape selected is a sphere.
