Modifying Reduction Settings
Use
Objects selected for reduction are examined by the reduction tool, and if certain components exist, the appropriate reduction options are automatically selected.
For example, if a model contains a texture map, the UV influence option is automatically selected. When the selected objects are reduced, the mapping coordinate boundaries are preserved and the texture map continues to display correctly. The following examples display a model reduced to 20%, with and without UV influence. Note that the texture map is displayed correctly with the UV influence used in the reduction.
You can modify these settings for the best results when reducing a model. That is, you can remove any discontinuity from reduced models, and dictate to what extent various components of the model are used in the reduction.
If you’ve healed a model, you can lessen the reduction processing time by clearing the Prepare Options check boxes, as these tasks are performed during the healing process. Clearing these options significantly reduces the processing time for large models.
