Field Selection Control

Definition

Using the field selection control you can define the properties, or Field Status, of screen elements and assign these to loan products using profiles. When designing loan products, which serve as the basis for loan contracts, the field selection control provides a further means of differentiation for the selection and properties of screen elements.

Use

Using the field selection control you can change or restrict the field status supplied by SAP in the standard system at organizational profile level, and make further differentiations at profile level in Customizing. You make the field status settings at organizational profile level based on the company code, unlike the settings for profiles, which are not dependent on a company code. You determine the selection of fields and their properties by assigning a profile to each product in the application.

Using assignments, you can assign a screen element different profiles so that it is a display field in one product, and a required entry field in another. You can also use assignments to override the relevant organization profile at company code level, if required.

Note Note

You can only use the field selection control for loans that are based on the product category Installment Loans (360) .

End of the note.

Structure

The Field Selection Control is a hierarchical model with 3 levels:

  • System Setting

For each element a certain field status is set in the system table Field Catalog – Maintenance of System Table (V_TDFIELDCATALOG). Moreover, you can define which field status is permitted for a screen element of an organization profile or a profile using the Field Status Options. If you do not make settings for a screen element in the organization profile or the profile, then the status of the system setting applies.

  • Organization Profile

You can define a field status or field status option at organization profile level for each screen element that differs from the system setting, depending on company code. Settings on this level override the system setting, as long as this is permitted.

  • Profile

At profile level you can define a field status for each screen element that differs from the system setting and the setting in the organizational profile. Settings at this level override the system setting and the setting at organizational profile level, as long as this is permitted.

Using the function Assign Profiles to Products you can individually define the properties for a screen element for each product using a profile.
