Formatting Series of Data and Data Points
Use
You can individually format every data series in a chart and every data point in a data series.
Features
The chart type determines which formatting functions are possible for a data series or for a data point.
Data series
There are the following formatting functions for a data series:
-
Changing the pattern (colors, shapes, thickness of lines...)
-
Assignment of a data series to primary or secondary size scales
-
Providing headings for data points
-
Inserting error indicators
These indicate uncertainties or errors for every data point in a data series. An individual error indicator cannot be formatted.
-
Inserting linking lines
These are used in chart types with stacked columns (column chart, special types of pie charts). They link segments of adjacent bars in one series of data.
-
Inserting drop lines
These link every data point in a data series with the corresponding value on the X-axis or Y-axis.
-
Inserting high-low lines
These link the highest and lowest values in every category.
-
Displaying positive and negative variances
These display the difference between the largest and smallest value in every category.
The chart elements inserted with the formatting functions, such as error indicators or drop lines, can only be formatted in groups as for a data series.

-
Changing the pattern (colors, shapes, thickness of lines...)
