Features
-
Defining chart type
You can use this function to select, for example, a chart with bars or lines.
-
Defining chart options
You use this function to define the basic structure of the chart, that means which of the following chart elements a chart should contain:
-
Title of the chart and of the axes
-
Axes
-
Main grids and ancillary grids
-
Legend
-
Data headings
-
-
Formatting chart element
You use this function to define the properties of a chart element, for example, the color.
There are special formatting functions for some chart elements, such as:
-
Inserting error indicators for data points in a data series (formatting series of data)
-
Changing the value of a data point (formatting data points)
-
Selecting a value range (formatting of axes)
-
Scaling of axes (formatting axes)
-
Insert Trend line for a data series.
-
-
Setting parameters for three-dimensional display
You can use this function to define the perspective from which you see a three-dimensional chart.
-
Reversing setting
You use this function to reverse the last setting. So you can reverse all the settings you have made since you called up the chart one after the other.
-
Copying
You use this function to copy the chart onto the clipboard. The chart is saved in the clipboard in the following formats:
-
ASCI (unformatted text)
-
BMP (bitmap)
-
WMF (Word metafile)
You can insert the copied chart into other documents.
-
The scope of functions of the chart wizard depends on the context, that is, the selected chart element and the chart type determine which of the formatting functions are offered in the chart wizards. For example, you can only call the function Insert Trend Line for data series. You can only maintain parameters for a 3D-view for a three-dimensional chart type.
Basically you can only use settings functions that are allowed in the application that calls the graphic.
Activities
You call the chart wizard by clicking on a chart element with the right mouse button. When you do this the chart element is selected.
If you want to make settings for an individual data point or for an individual data heading you have to select them before you call up the chart wizard.
