Deleting Order Items

Use

You can use this function to delete orders or order items in Series Sales and Distribution that were created by the order generation function. If an item contains subitems, these are deleted along with the main item.

Note Note

If you delete an order, you can create it again using the order generation function.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

Before you can use the function for deleting order items, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:

  • Follow-on documents should not yet have been created for the order item that is to be deleted.

  • If you want to delete an item that contains subitems, there must not be follow-on documents for the subitems either.

  • There must be shipping schedule records with the status Delete Orders in the system.

  • You should have defined the system resources available to the Delete Order Items functions (see RFC Settings ).

  • The Delete Order Items function makes RFC calls to delete orders and order items. You can change the RFC parameters for the function using the following Customizing settings for Series Sales and Distribution under Start of the navigation path SAP Media Next navigation step Media Sales and Distribution Next navigation step Series Sales and Distribution Next navigation step Sales Next navigation step Delete Orders Next navigation step Technical Settings for Order Deletion End of the navigation path :

    Parameter

    Description

    Package Size for Order Deletion

Package size for RFC call to select the contracts

    Note Note

If you select very large package sizes, this may result in a timeout. This error is listed in the log of the Delete Order Items function. In this case, you must reduce the package size.

    End of the note.

    Number of Parallel RFCs

Maximum number of parallel RFC calls for deleting order items

    Caution Caution

Please note that the work processes used by order item deletion are not available to other users, for example a call center.

    End of the caution.

    Caution Caution

Please note that the RFC settings have priority over the Customizing settings.

Features

Delete Order Items contains the following functions:

Group box

Field / indicator

Description

Control Data

Server Group for Deletion

When you execute the function Delete Order Items , the orders are deleted in background processing.

You can specify a server group, on which the RFC calls for deletion are executed. You can define server groups using the RFC Server Group Maintenance function (transaction RZ12).

If you do not specify a server group, the system can use all the servers with dialog processes to delete order items, so as to distribute the load.

Update Mode

Test Run

No orders or order items are deleted in the test run , which is simply a simulation. The system creates a log , whether you execute the function as an update run or as a test run.

Test Options

Caution Caution

You should not use the test options in productive operations, since they can have an adverse effect on the runtime for deleting order items

End of the caution.

Switch On Debugging Mode

Switches to debugging mode after the RFC call for deleting order items. This allows you to check for errors in the coding accessed in the RFC module.

Delete Sequentially

If you have runtime problems, we recommend performing a runtime analysis (transaction SE30). The analysis indicates how much time is required at which points in the program.

The functions executed in the RFC call are only included in the runtime analysis if you select the option Delete Sequentially.

Log

Detailed Log

If the Detailed Log indicator is selected, the system logs all activities performed, so that you can follow each step in the process of deleting order items.

If you do not select the Detailed Log indicator, the system only logs errors that occur during the deletion of order items.

Caution Caution

Please note that the detailed log can have an adverse effect on runtime when deleting order items. We therefore do not advise you to choose the detailed log in productive operations.

End of the caution.
