Date Shift

Use

This function is used to change publication dates in ad insert and distribution items.

Integration

It is part of document processing.

If you change the publication date of a document item, the system generates new schedule lines and billing datasets for this item.

Prerequisites

The publication date of an ad insert or distribution item is to be changed whilst retaining the original positioning.

You have created an ad insert or distribution item.

Features

The publication date for an ad insert or distribution item can be changed without losing the positioning in the following situations:

  • A fully booked booking unit, a selectively booked basic booking unit or a selectively booked, unpositioned combined booking unit has been entered for the item.

  • A selectively booked, positioned combined booking unit has been entered for the item and the booking unit hierarchy structure is identical on all publication dates involved.

In these situations, the system generates the same number of schedule lines for the old and new publication dates and copies the original positioning into the new schedule lines.

If a selectively booked, positioned combined booking unit has been entered for an item and the booking unit hierarchy structure is not identical on both dates, system response is as follows:

  • If the combined booking unit is published on the new date, the system copies the original positioning into all basic booking units that are assigned below the combined booking unit on this date.

  • The system generates schedule lines with new publication dates for basic booking units that are published on both dates.

  • It does not generate any schedule lines for basic booking units that are not published on the new date.

Positionings in basic booking units, like those in combined booking units are only copied if the basic booking unit is published on the new date.

The following function exits can be used to change dates for combined booking units that have completely different booking unit hierarchies on both dates:

Example

The following example shows system response for a selectively booked, positioned combined booking unit with different booking unit hierarchies on both publication dates.

The structure of the AI-Total combined booking unit is shown in the diagram below. The combined booking unit has a different structure on Mondays and Thursdays.

You enter an ad insert item with Monday as a publication date. During selective booking of the AI-Total combined booking unit, you book the Regional-A-Total combined booking unit and the Regional-B-1 basic booking unit.

You change the publication date to Thursday.

The system copies the Regional-A-Total combined booking unit into all booking units that are assigned below the Regional-A-Total combined booking unit on Thursday. These are the Regional-A-1, Regional-A-2 and Regional-A-3 booking units.

The Regional-B-1 basic booking unit positioning is not copied because this booking unit is not published on Thursdays.
