The system determines the item category from the copying variant for the Create with reference, template or template repetition functions.

Features

The item type and item category must be specified during document item creation.

The item type is selected by the user. The item category on the other hand is defined by the sales document type or item and sales document type combination. The system uses the item category that has been defined in Customizing as the standard item category for the sales document type or item and sales document type combination .

The item type and category must also be specified when creating a document item with item category. The item type and item category are selected by the user.

See also: Specify Item Type

During item category selection, the system offers you all item categories that are admissible for the sales document type or item and sales document type specified. You can create a document item using an item category that is not the standard item category defined in Customizing, such as the barter deal or cash sale item categories.

Note Note

Note that the item category determines whether a document item is relevant to planning, pricing, production, billing, contract determination or commission.
