Additional Functions for Multiple Counter Plans (Master Data)

Use

You use a multiple counter plan or the scheduling of a multiple counter plan if you want to use schedules with cycles of different dimensions. A classic example of this is fleet maintenance, which you must perform every 15,000 kilometers or after one year at the latest.

Prerequisites

You activated the function in Customizing of Plant Maintenance and Customer Service under Set Special Functions for Maintenance Plans.

Note Note

Note that you cannot reset the activation of the Ext. Multiple Counter Plan indicator after saving.

End of the note.

For multiple counter plans that were created and scheduled before the activation, you can use the full scope of the additional functions. Special features are not to be taken into account here.

The cycles and maintenance items are assigned to the cycle set0 (zero) and the frequency of use is set to 1 with the next scheduling.

Features

With the additional functions for multiple counter plans you can specify more than one cycle set in a multiple counter plan.

You can – as for the scheduling screen of a strategy plan – achieve a differentiated scheduling screen for multiple counter plans:

  • Scope of the activities for each scheduled date

  • Interval between two scheduled dates

A multiple counter plan with the cycle sets 1 and 2 should serve as an example:

  1. The cycles of cycle set 1 are taken into account for calculating the first scheduled date.

  2. Building on this scheduled date, the cycles of cycle set 2 are used to determine the next scheduled date.

  3. Then the scheduling considers cycle set 1 again, and so on.

In general, the scheduled dates are calculated by considering the cycle sets in ascending order. If the cycle set with the highest number has been reached, the scheduling is continued with the lowest cycle set.

The deciding factor is that cycle sets are not scheduled to run parallel at cycle set level. Individual sets are also considered one after the other in the scheduling. That means, in the example provided, set 2 follows on from set 1, and set 2 is then followed by set 1.

You can use a frequency of use for each cycle set to control that a cycle set is first scheduled x amount of times, before the next cycle set for calculating a scheduled date is used.

Within a multiple counter plan, you can assign 1-n maintenance items to a cycle set. Through the scheduling, a maintenance call object is generated for the maintenance items that are assigned to the corresponding cycle set.

For more information about the special features of scheduling, see Scheduled Date Calculation (Algorithm) in the Multiple Counter Plan and Additional Functions for Multiple Counter Plans (Scheduling) .

In the multiple counter plan, activating the additional functions provides you with the following scheduling parameters:

  • Scheduling period

With this scheduling parameter, you can also generate a schedule preview for a multiple counter plan.

  • Completion requirement

With this scheduling parameter, a maintenance call object is not generated for the next scheduled date for a multiple counter plan until the preceding scheduled date has the status Completed.

Activities

  1. In the multiple counter plan, specify a series of cycle sets and frequencies of use for the cycle set.

  2. Assign the cycle sets to the maintenance items.
