Scheduled Date Calculation (Algorithm) in the Multiple Counter Plan

Use

The scheduled date calculation for multiple counter plans is based on the cycles that are created for the multiple counter plan. If multiple cycles are compiled into a cycle set, then the link type of the scheduling parameter governs which of the cycles determines the planned date, meaning which cycle is the leading cycle. For an OR link, the earliest cycle determines the planned date, for an AND link, the latest cycle determines it.

Integration

You can control special scheduling requirements using the scheduling parameters in the maintenance plan. The system calculates the cycles in which maintenance call objects should be generated, based on these scheduling parameters .

Features

During scheduled date calculation, the system considers the scheduling type (for example, restart, start in cycle, scheduled) that was performed for the multiple counter plan.

  • Time-based cycles

    The start date is relevant for time-based cycles. The start time is not taken into account for time-based cycles. On the start date, the cycle lengths (offset lengths) are added up and used to determine the planned date for this cycle.

  • Performance-based cycles

    For performance-based cycles, the start time is used to read a measurement document valid for the counter and the value recorded there is copied into the scheduling as the start counter reading. In this process, the measurement document read is either recorded directly for the start time or is set before the start time (a virtual counter reading for the start time is not simulated).

    On the start counter reading, the cycle lengths (or offset lengths) are added up and used to determine the planned counter reading for this cycle. The annual performance recorded for the counters and the current counter reading are used to calculate the corresponding planned date. The current counter reading can deviate from the start counter reading.

    Note Note

    The start time remains decisive for the first scheduled date. If, after a start has been performed, a new measurement document is created between the old measurement document and the start time, then the new document is read for a schedule update and the new document’s value is used as the start value in the scheduling. This can lead to a corresponding movement or postponement of the planned date.

When calculating the scheduled date, the system considers the status of the maintenance calls (such as Called, Waiting, Skipped, or Completed ).

  • Status called, waiting, or skipped

    For these scheduled dates, the dates of the respective preceding scheduled dates are relevant. If the preceding date has the status Called, Waiting, or Skipped, then the planned date of this scheduled date is used as the reference time (date and 00:00:00 hours) for the follow-on date.

    Leading cycle

    • Time-based cycle

      On the planned date, the time-based cycle is added up and used to determine the next planned date for this cycle.

      The planned date (time 00:00:00) is used as the start time for the cycles that are not leading.

    • Performance-based cycle

      On the planned counter reading, the performance-based cycle is added up and used to determine the next planned counter reading for this cycle.

      The planned date (time 00:00:00) is used as the start time for the cycles that are not leading.

      Non-leading cycle

    • Time-based cycle

      At the determined start time (leading cycle), the time-based cycle is added up and used to determine the next planned date for this cycle.

    • Performance-based cycle

      The determined start time (leading cycle) is used to determine a start counter.

      If the start time is in the past , the start counter reading is read from a corresponding measurement document (of an assigned counter) for each performance-based cycle.

      If the start time is in the future , the most up to date counter reading is used as the start counter reading for each performance-based cycle.

      The performance-based cycle is added up on the determined start counter reading and used to determine the next planned counter reading for this cycle.

  • Status completed

    If the preceding date has the status Completed, then the completion date and time are set as the reference time. The system calculates the dates as follows:

    Leading cycle

    • Time-based cycle

      If there is a shift between the confirmation date and the planned date, a “new” start time is determined using the shift factors .

      • For a 0% shift, the planned date (planned time 00:00:00) is the new “start time”, for a 100% shift, confirmation date and time are relevant.

      • With a shift factor between 0 and 100%, the system percentually determines a new start time between the planned and confirmation dates.

        This start time is the basis for the non-leading cycles.

        The time-based cycle is added up on the determined start time and used to determine the planned date for this cycle.

    • Performance-based cycle

      Using the confirmation date and time, the counter reading confirmation is read from a corresponding measurement document (of an assigned counter).

      If there is a shift between the counter reading confirmation and the planned counter reading, a “new” start counter reading is determined using the shift factors.

      • For a 0% shift, the planned counter reading is the new “start counter reading“, for a 100% shift, the counter reading confirmation is relevant.

        In the first case, the planned date (planned time = 00:00:00) would be the new start time for the non-leading cycles; in the second case this would be the confirmation date with confirmation time.

      • With a shift factor between 0 and 100%, the system percentually determines a new “start counter reading” between the planned counter reading and counter reading confirmation.

        In this case, the system uses the new start counter reading to simulate a corresponding start time. This simulation uses the data of the last measurement document entered on or before the determined start time and the annual performance of the counter.

        The performance-based cycle is added up on the determined start counter reading and used to determine the planned counter reading for this cycle.

        Non-leading cycle

        The system calculates the dates for time-based and performance-based cycles (here: preceding date has the status Completed ) using the same algorithm as the dates for non-leading cycles whose preceding dates have the status Called, Waiting, or Skipped .

  • Special features

    • If a preceding date has the status Completed , then for all performance-based cycles the measurement document relevant at the time of completion – even if the time is in the future – is read and the value of the document is used as the base value for the further scheduling. As no measurement document can be recorded in the future, this can lead to unwanted postponements. Therefore, make sure that the completion date is close to the current date and that the next measurement document is created soon.

    • To calculate further dates, a leading, performance-based cycle transfers the information directly and is not subject to any simulation of the reference value. The planned counter reading of the preceding date is set directly as the reference value for calculating the next date if both of the following conditions are met:

      • A performance-based cycle of a cycle set is the leading (and thus the “planned-date determining”) cycle

      • The counter of the cycle is used again to calculate the next date (for example, in the next cycle set)
