Performing Administrative Tasks on Multiple Devices

Procedure

You must enable the client devices to ensure that they can receive and synchronize data with the Data Orchestration Engine (DOE).

You can assign an additional mobile component to multiple devices based on your requirements. For example, to enable application users to print data from their respective mobile applications, you must assign the required printer driver.

You can assign additional distribution model (DM) software component versions to multiple devices based on your requirements.

Example

You migrate a set of devices from Mobile Infrastructure (MI) to the Data Orchestration Engine (DOE). Then, you roll out these devices with the Mobile Asset Management (MAM) application. Later, you deploy a Sales Order application on these devices. To ensure that the data related to the Sales Order application is transferred to these devices, you must assign the corresponding DM software component version to these devices.

If the data objects associated with a set of devices are not enabled for synchronization, then you must manually extract data for these devices in the Data Orchestration Engine (DOE).

Note

All the data objects in the production environment are sync enabled. In the test environment, you may not sync enable some of the data objects for test purposes. For example, you want to count the number of data object instances that are transferred to a set of devices when you trigger data extract for the devices. In this case, you must not set the status of the data objects associated with the specified devices as sync enabled.

If a device or a set of devices must not receive or synchronize data with the DOE, you must disable these devices.
