Creating Recipes

Use

You use this procedure to create a recipe, which means you create the first change state of the recipe. You can copy the change state of an existing recipe, as required.

Prerequisites

  • You defined recipe types and their properties in Customizing for Recipe Management in the following IMG activities:

    • Set Up EH&S Customizing

    • Recipe Settings

    • Versioning Settings

  • If your recipe type specifies that a change master record is to be used for editing, you defined a change master record in engineering change management. The required valid-from date and the following object types must be active in this change master record:

    • For recipe editing, object type Recipe Management

    • For formula editing, the object type substance, in addition. In recipes with dependent formulas, you also need this object type for recipe editing.

A change number identifies the change master record.

Procedure

  1. In the recipe workbench , choose Recipe by double-clicking it.

  2. Choose with the quick info text Create .

  3. If you want to copy a change state of an existing recipe, enter the selection data of this change state under Source . If you want to create a new recipe, leave the fields blank.

  4. Choose the recipe type of the recipe you want to create under Target . Enter the recipe key, which uniquely identifies the recipe, or allow the system to assign it automatically.

  5. If necessary, enter validity dates or an engineering change number.

Note that the key date and the valid-from date of the change number must not be before the current date. If you enter a key date and change number, the change number data is used.

    Note Note

If you have defined global parameters for the recipe workbench, validities may conflict. For more information, see Global Parameters: Key Date and Change Number .

    End of the note.
  6. Confirm your entries.

The Basic Data tab page appears.

  7. Enter the basic data of the recipe and save it.

Result

The first change state of the recipe is created with the data you entered. Depending on your system settings, it is either assigned the number 1 or a key that is determined by your own criteria. You define these criteria in Customizing for Recipe Management under Set Up Name Assignment for Change States .
