Global Parameters: Key Date and Change Number

Use

When you access the recipe workbench , you can specify a global key date and a global change number. These global parameters apply to the following objects in the recipe workbench that are realized as specifications:

  • Recipes

  • Formulas

  • Substances

  • Packagings

  • Process elements

  • Equipment requirements

Prerequisites

If you want to specify a change number, you have created it in engineering change management.

Features

The key date and change number apply to all objects listed under "Use". This means that the system displays all specifications valid on the key date that was entered, and makes all changes to the specifications in the change state whose validity period contains the key date. If you enter a change number, the system makes the changes with this change number. Your settings apply until you leave the recipe workbench again. If you selected the Retain Setting indicator, your settings will remain even when you call the recipe workbench again; the system retains them until you make different settings.

When you call a recipe, you branch straight to the change state for the global change number you specified, with reference to the global key date.

Procedure for Conflicting Validities

If no change state with these properties exists, the system proceeds as follows:

The system first checks whether a change state that is valid on the specified key date exists for the recipe.

  • If no valid change state exists, the system cannot read any more data.

    It does not display any dependent objects for this recipe in the navigation area and only displays the following tab pages in the application area:

    • Basic Data in display mode

      The data on this tab page refers to the key date that is closest to the next valid change state.

    • Change States in change mode

      You can create a new change state on this tab page that is valid on the global key date.

  • If one or more valid change states exist, the system checks whether a change state with the same change number exists for the recipe.

    • If a change state with the same change number does exist, the system displays it and you can edit it.

    • If no change state for the global change number exists for the global key date, a dialog box appears in which you can create a new change state for the specified number. You can then edit this change state.

      If you do not create a new change state, the system displays the change state whose validity period includes the key date of the global change number. If no such change state exists, the system displays a change state that is valid on the specified global key date in display mode.

      You cannot edit the data. If you want to edit the data, you have to change the global parameters or create a new change state.

Activities

Below the recipe workbench toolbar, choose with the quick info text Key Date for Editing . Enter the required data and confirm your entries. If you enter a change number, the system uses the valid-from date of the change number as the key date. This overwrites a key date that has been entered manually.
