Collecting Traces for Troubleshooting Security Problems

Prerequisites

To avoid collecting unnecessary traces, you must be prepared to reproduce the exact problem. For example, if you cannot log on with your user name and password, go to the logon page of the application you want to open before you start the wizard. By doing this, you are prepared to reproduce the exact problem - the failing logon, without collecting unnecessary data.

Context

You can use the Security Troubleshooting Wizard plug-in of the SAP NetWeaver Administrator to collect the traces for any reproducible security-related problems.

Procedure

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Wizard.

There are two ways to open the wizard:

    • As a standalone application by entering the URL http://<host>:<port>/tshw

    • With the SAP NetWeaver Administrator by following the path: Start of the navigation pathProblem Management Next navigation step Logs and Traces Next navigation step Security Troubleshooting WizardEnd of the navigation path.

  2. Select an incident in the Select Incident for Diagnostics dropdown list.
  3. Choose the Start Diagnostics button.
  4. Reproduce the problem.
  5. Choose the Stop Diagnostics button.
  6. To display the traces that the wizard collected, choose Show Collected Traces in the Result subtab.

Results

The current collected trace is displayed in the Result subtab. You can also review previous traces in the History subtab.
