Project Issue and Change Management allows you to log issues in the system so that you can document project deviations and reduce the effects of changes in quality, schedule, execution plan, and costs.

In the construction industry, a site supervisor can log issues to request additional resources or report the damage of materials caused by weather.

Prerequisites

The following master data and Customizing settings are set up in the system:

  • The project, for which the issue is being logged, is available in the system

  • The following settings have been made under Customizing for Project Issue and Change Management:

Procedure

  1. On the Issue and Change Management screen, choose Issue, and then Create.

  2. Enter an issue type.

    Note Note

    The SAP standard delivery includes the following issue types:

    • General issue

    • Request for information

    • Technical issue

    • Risk issue

    You can define issue types that are relevant for your enterprise in Customizing for Project Issue and Change Management under Start of the navigation path Processing of Issues, Change Requests, and Activities Next navigation step Processing of Issues and Change Requests Next navigation step Define Issue and Change Request Types End of the navigation path.

  3. Choose Create Issue.

  4. Enter the project for which you are logging the issue, and then save your entries. Note that on this screen, you can also enter the issue title, issue description, employee responsible, priority, and impact. For more information about priorities and impact, see Setting Priorities and Impact (Issue).

    Note Note

    Alternatively, you can also load values specified in another issue by choosing the Copy From pushbutton. This allows you to use existing issues as templates for logging similar problems.
