Substitutions Based on a Position/Work Center You can use this form of substitution to pay an employee differently for work performed. You enter a position or a work center according to which the employee is to be paid for the specified period.
This form of substitution does not trigger a change in the planned working time, because the system does not overwrite the planned working time of the employee who is performing the substitution.
If you combine this form of substitution with other forms, you can change the employee’s planned working time as well as his or her pay.
You can also use this form of substitution to specify a different rate of pay for a particular partial-day period. To do so, enter the times for which the employee is to be paid differently directly at the position or work center. The employee’s planned working time is not overwritten in this instance.
A shop-floor worker is to stand in for his supervisor on the morning of January 21, 2004. His planned working time is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You create a position substitution for him by entering the position and the time from 08:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
The employee now receives the supervisor’s pay from 08:00 a.m. to 12 noon, and his regular pay from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.
