Technical Status

Use

The technical status valuates the current, technical status of an aircraft. It is linked to various restriction levels and can be displayed using symbols.

The status is set as a result of a maintenance task.In cases where various defects or operations that affect flight operations cause various technical statuses to be set, the aircraft is given the overall technical status that has the highest restriction as regards flight operations.

Integration

You can set the technical status in:

Maintenance notifications

Maintenance orders

Flights

You can display it in the:

Master equipment

Status board

Overview of technical statuses

Prerequisites

You have made the following settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG):

Defense Forces & Public SecuritySupport for Flight OperationsTechnical StatusSemantics

The technical status that is set in a notification or in an order/flight, and the master equipment to which the status is transferred, are assigned to the same status profile.

If no reference object is assigned to a notification, a technical status cannot be set in the notification.

Features

Any user involved in maintenance tasks can set a technical status in the operations of a maintenance notification or of a maintenance order/flight.

The system checks the information about the technical status in all the notifications and orders/flights for the master equipment in order to determine the overall technical status for the aircraft. The technical status with the highest restriction is transferred to the master equipment.

The technical status cannot be assigned directly in the master equipment.

When the repairs and maintenance tasks are complete, the technical statuses must be signed off or deleted.Only authorized personnel (inspectors) may sign off or delete such statuses.

The technical status is not reset in the master equipment until all the statuses in the notifications and orders/flights have been signed off or deleted. Once the status has been reset, the technical object has no restrictions from a technical point of view. The aircraft concerned cannot resume operations until the status has been reset.

Once the technical status has been reset in the master equipment, you have to change the operational status accordingly.

Status management

The technical status is managed by the general SAP status management facility.

The following additional conditions apply:

Change documents

The change documents are connected to status management. This makes it possible to determine at any time who changed the statuses.A separate status can also be set up for every inspector.

Authorization

The authorization key in the user status can be set individually for each status. The authorization is checked in the status management authorization object.

Authorization profile

In the authorization profile, every inspector is assigned the status management authorization object (B_USERSTAT) with the authorization key that belongs to his or her name ID.

Example

In Customizing, the following technical statuses and associated icons were defined:

Backslash

Cross in circle

Cross

Cross and cross in circle represent two different degrees of restriction with regard to flight operations. The backslash, on the other hand, represents a status without any restrictions.

In the following graphic, the above statuses are set in a notification and two orders. The system checks all the notifications and orders/flights to establish which statuses are set.The status with the highest restriction – the cross – is transferred to the master equipment. The operational control team sets the operational status on the basis of the restriction to Not OK .

The following graphic shows that the statuses with restrictions have been signed off or deleted by an inspector. As a result, only the status indicated by the backslash remains, and is transferred to the master equipment.Since this status does not imply any restrictions, the operational control team sets the operational status to OK .The aircraft can be deployed again.
