Features

You use this iView to create a new project. The following overview contains the key steps you carry out in this process.

Step

Procedure

Enter Basic Data

You enter the basic data . You must enter the project type, but all other data (such as the start date orfinish date ) is optional.

The Constraint field controls whether it is possible to make an entry in the Start Date and Finish Date fields.

For more information, see Creating Basic Data for a Project Definition .

Select Template

The input help contains all the templates that were created for the project type. Once you have chosen a template, the system displays the project data it contains and you can edit this data.If you changed data in the template but prefer to work with the values from the template again, you can go back to the template values.

  • The system displays the assigned roles and phases as additional information for a template.

  • You can select one of the assigned roles as the responsible role.If you select a responsible role, you can specify a person responsible in the step that follows.

For more information, see Templates .

Person Responsible

You can only specify a person responsible if you selected a responsible role in the previous step. You have the following options:

  • If you want to assign a person who is already assigned to the role, display the input help. Select a person.

  • If you want to assign a different person, choose Find . The system starts the resource search .You can use different selection criteria to search for persons. You can select a person in the results list as the person responsible. The system then assigns this person to the chosen role.

  • Either choose your user or do not specify a person responsible yet.

If the settings in your cProjects system allow a virtual room to be created, you can specify here that one is to be created. For more information, see “Prerequisites”.

Review and Save

You check the data you entered, for example, the person responsible.

  • If you want to correct the data again, choose the step in which you want to make the correction. Either choose the step in the roadmap or click the function key.

  • If you want to save the data, choose Save .

The system saves all data to the database and branches to the final step Completed . You can only create a new project once you have saved this data.

If an error occurs, the system issues an error message and no data is saved to the database.

Prerequisites

Settings in PPMDC

If you want to create a virtual room in this self-service, implement the Business Package for Projects, Portfolio Management, and Design Collaboration (PPMDC) . This business package provides the room template cProjects_Standard_Template .

If you do not use the Business Package for PPMDC , you can also create a virtual room in the Create Project self-service; however, the standard template cProjects_Standard_Template is not available here.

Settings in the cProjects System

The following overview shows the settings you make in the cProjects system.

Data

Note

Project type (mandatory)

You defined the project types in Customizing for Collaboration Projects under Start of the navigation path Structure Next navigation step Define Project Types. End of the navigation path

Only projects whose project type specifies a use for the dashboard are relevant to the worklist . You set this up in the Evaluations and Dashboard display block.

Template(mandatory)

You defined the project templates . For more information, see Creating a Project Definition .

Logical port(optional)

If you want to use the integration with virtual rooms for collaboration purposes, you have to define a logical port.

Make this setting in the cProjects system in Customizing for Collaboration Projects . Choose Start of the navigation path Connection to External Systems Next navigation step Integration with Virtual Rooms Next navigation step Create Logical Ports End of the navigation path .

Define the logical port for the proxy class CO_DPR_CR_ROOM_ABAPWSVI_DOCUME . Use the technical name ERP_PSS_CREATE_PROJECT .

This self-service only uses the room template cProjects_Standard_Template .

Configuration of a WebDAV repository manager (optional)

You configure the WebDAV repository manager in the portal. For more information, see Configuration of a WebDAV Repository Manager .

You must enter a prefix for the WebDAV repository in the configuration data if you want the cProjects documents to be displayed with a WebDAV application in a virtual room.

The following convention applies to the prefix: /SAP_cProjects_<System ID><Client>/

Example for cProjects system: PCC ; client 100:

/SAP_cProjects_PCC_100/

For more information, see Defining the WebDAV URL
