Features That Won't Be Available in Optimized Story Experience

Some features won't be available in the optimized story experience. The story designer will need to change or remove the following features before they can save or convert their story to the optimized story experience.

Digital Boardroom and Properties	In the Optimized Story Experience, Digital Boardrooms that reference stories will be in a broken state.	X	X	Digital Boardroom will be integrated into stories. Available view time properties can now be configured for stories.
Non-Optimized Presentation Table	Blocks the conversion to the Optimized Story Experience.	X	X	In the Builder panel, enable the Optimized Presentation table. Tip In the Classic Design Experience, you are warned which objects are impacted when you switch to edit mode.

Partially Supported Features

The following features may require specific actions before they can be used in the optimized story experience.

Feature	Action
Story Editing	If your story contains scripts, it's read-only for story designers. To be able to edit the story, the story designers need to be assigned to the Application Creator role. If you directly open the story in view mode and switch to edit mode, the story needs to be reloaded. If you change the script variable values in view mode, they won't be kept when you switch back to edit mode. Any actions on a widget, popup or page before it’s completely rendered can’t be undone, such as deleting a chart.
Commenting	Page-level comments aren't supported in edit time.
Story Viewing	Once a script is executed, the Undo and Redo history is cleared and restarts. If your story contains any popups, the Save As… action is not available as this may break them.
Responsive Pages	Not all features are available. For more information, see the section Responsive Pages: Feature Compatibility of Responsive Layout in Optimized Story Experience in Story Pages.
Reporting Layout	Once you've enabled reporting layout, you won't be able to revert back to the previous layout. In addition, some features aren't supported. See Create a Reporting Layout with Header, Footer and Margins.
Input Controls	The following input control types aren't supported on Linked Widgets Diagram: Account Input Control, Dimension Input Control, and Cross Calculation Input Control. Input Control doesn't fully support theming capabilities. After converting an analytic application to optimized story, you can no longer set styling respectively for different types of Input Controls in theme preferences.
Filter Lines	In Group Filter mode, dynamic time range filters don't align with the system time when it’s changed. Filters in Group Filter mode aren't shown in the appendix of the PDF export triggered by the table’s context menu.
Export	PDF export isn't supported in design time. If you've included comments in PDF export, page comments and table dimension comments won’t be exported. If you'd like to export a table to Excel or CSV using script API, the table needs to be on the current active page. Exporting widgets to CSV or tables to XLSX only supports Point of View as scope, while All isn't supported.
Scripting and API	The scripts on one page can't access the widgets and popups from others. Value help for dimensions, measures and all their members aren’t supported for geo map related scripting, but you can manually input the parameters. Customized dimension descriptions in `memberInfo` won't be shown on tables. The `onResultChanged` event isn't triggered when the chart or table is invisible and set to Refresh Active Widgets Only. When the widget becomes visible, the necessary query is sent and `onResultChanged` event is triggered. When triggered by `setVariableValue` API, the variable dialog doesn’t display member description for charts and tables. The following APIs might not work well for tables if the hierarchical dimensions used in the script haven't been used as the dimensions in the tables: `Table.getDataSource().setDimensionFilter()` `Table.getDataSource().copyDimensionFilterFrom()` `Table.getDataSource().getDimensionFilters()` `Table.getDataSource().getHierarchy()` `Table.getDataSource().setHierarchyLevel()` In view mode, setting multiple values on tables and R visualizations using an API like `setDimensionFilter` changes the selection mode of a filter even if it was set to Single Selection in edit mode.
Data Access Language	Measure and dimension descriptions are based on the data access language used when the story was optimized, but not when it's opened.
Table Navigation Panel	On the table navigation panel, which is triggered by the `openNavigationPanel()` API, the option to deselect all account dimensions isn't available.

Understanding the Unsupported Stories Features

Some features may not be supported in the optimized story experience, or at least not supported right away. There are different categories of unsupported features:

Features that block conversion: if your story contains a feature that blocks conversion, you won't be able to save or convert the story to the Optimized View Mode, Optimized Design Experience or Optimized Story Experience.

You will have to remove the features from your story before you can proceed.
Features that are permanently lost (show ghost widgets): some features can be converted to the Optimized View Mode, Optimized Design Experience, or the Optimized Story Experience, but they will be permanently lost after the conversion.

Any charts, tables, or other widgets that contain these features will display a ghost widget instead of the normal widget, along with a message listing the unsupported features.
