Restrictions in Composites

Look up restrictions in composites as files, composite editor and Optimized Story Experience.

Unsupported Actions in File Repository

The following actions in file repository aren't yet supported for composites:
  • Schedule publication
  • Publish to catalog

Unsupported Display on Home Screen

Composites aren't displayed in the following tabs on home screen:

The following features are partially supported in composites:

Supported widgets

Limited widgets are supported for creating composites. For a list of available widgets, refer to Navigate Within Composites.
Linked analysis

Linked analysis can only be applied to Only This Widget or Only Selected Widgets.
Edit prompts

The option Automatically open prompt when story opens isn't available.
Dynamic text
  • All types of input controls, story filters, model variables and page number can't be the source for dynamic texts in composites.
  • Other story properties take those from the stories that are using the composite.
Hyperlink

Link to a specific story page isn't supported.
Dropdown, checkbox group, radio button group, input field

  • Only manual input is supported as data source.

  • Enable the write-back in runtime isn't available.
Scripting

  • Widget script APIs are supported, while global ones are partially supported.

  • onInitialization event isn't supported.
Page styling In the Styling panel of the page in composites, settings such as ID, title, canvas size, page layout aren't available.

Restrictions in Optimized Story Experience

Currently, composites are only supported on canvas pages.

Unsupported Features

The following features aren't yet supported for composites in Optimized Story Experience:
  • Linked widgets diagram
  • Copy and paste composites, and pages with composites
  • Save as template

The following features are partially supported for composites in Optimized Story Experience:
Feature Restrictions
CSS

CSS applies to composites as a whole, rather than the individual widgets inside.

To set CSS for the widgets, composite creators can define interface functions with setCSSClass API.
Export, bookmark

In edit mode, when you select what can be exported or bookmarked in the related technical objects, you can only select the composite as a whole rather than the individual widgets inside. This means in view mode, either all the widgets or nothing in the composite can be exported or bookmarked.
Commenting

In view mode, commenting on individual widgets in composites is supported. However, commenting isn't supported in edit mode.
Linked analysis

Composites can be only be target widgets in linked analysis applied to All Widgets in the Story or All Widgets on the Page.
