Creating a Predictive Scenario

Create a predictive scenario and work with one or more predictive models.

Context

You create a predictive scenario that corresponds to the type of information you need to answer a business question. The predictive scenario is where you create and store one or several predictive models.
Tip
You can open an existing predictive scenario from two places:
  • From the Predictive Scenarios start page, go to the Recent Files section. From Recent Files you can see the last 25 files you worked on.

  • From the Start of the navigation path Files Next navigation step  (My Files)End of the navigation path page. From (My Files) you can see all your files.

Procedure

  1. From the Predictive Scenarios start page, or from Start of the navigation path Files Next navigation step  (My Files) Next navigation step  (Create) Next navigation step Predictive ScenariosEnd of the navigation path, select the type of predictive scenario that best fits your business question.

The New Predictive Scenario dialog appears. It lists files and folders in the Files repository. If you already have a user folder, you can store your predictive scenario there, or you can create a new folder.

  2. Browse to and select a folder for the predictive scenario, and then enter a meaningful and unique name.
  3. Enter a description, if needed, that describes the business intent of the predictive scenario. You might like to describe what problem the predictvie scenario is trying to solve, for example, predicting who will buy a product, or creating groups of customers.
  4. Select OK.

Your predictive scenario is created and the Settings pane opens automatically. The pane contains the parameters and options that defines your predictive scenarios first predictive model. The settings available depend on the type of predictive scenario you select.

Predictive scenarios can also be added as predictive steps in multi actions. It can then be triggered in a story or analytic application, or scheduled as a calendar task.
