Granting Permissions for Analytic Applications in Roles

You can grant permissions for working with analytic applications in your users' roles.

Prerequisites

Make sure you have the rights to edit roles in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Context

The following standard application roles delivered with SAP Analytics Cloud include tasks related to the analytics designer:

Role	Description
System Owner	Includes all authorizations that are required to create, view, update or delete analytic applications.
Admin
BI Admin
Application Creator
BI Content Creator	Includes all authorizations that are required to view analytic applications.
BI Content Viewer
Viewer
Modeler
Planner Reporter

Note

Application designers are usually assigned to the Application Creator role. If they need to create planning models for their planning applications, they need the Modeler role in addition to the Application Creator role.

In addition, you can enhance other roles with permissions for working with analytic applications.

Procedure

From the Main Menu, select Security Roles.
Select the role you want to enhance with the analytics designer capability, or create a new role by clicking (Add Role).

Under Permissions, go to the Analytic Applications row and select the required permissions for this role.

Option	Description
Create	Users assigned to this role can create analytic applications.
Read	Users assigned to this role can view analytic applications and navigate the data.
Update	Users assigned to this role can change analytic applications.
Delete	Users assigned to this role can delete analytic applications.

Note that when you remove the Read permission you also remove the Update and Delete permissions.

Select (Save).

Results

Depending on the permissions you have granted them regarding the analytics designer, users assigned to the role do or do not have access to certain features of the analytics designer.

Example

Role without update permission	When opening an analytic application, the analytic application is displayed in view mode. The system does not display the menu bar and the outline view that make it possible to change the analytic application.
Role without create permission	Under Main Menu Create, the option Analytic Application is not available. Under Main Menu Browse Files Create, the option Analytic Application is not available.
