Adding the Point of Interest Layer

You can add a Point of Interest layer to a geo map.

Prerequisites

To add point of interest data to SAP Analytics Cloud, see Creating Points of Interest.

Context

Using your point of interest data, mark locations or areas on the map, such as sales regions for your organization, or the location of special events that are important to your analysis. A model is not required to add a point of interest or feature layer to a geo map.

If your point of interest data is available in a CSV or an Excel file, you can simply drag and drop the file onto the map to populate the data points. Your data must contain columns for latitude (column heading string should contain latitude or lat) and longitude (column heading string should contain longitude or long). Tooltip columns are supported but are optional (column heading string should contain tooltip, name, or id. The column heading strings are not case sensitive.

Procedure

  1. Select Point of Interest Layer from the Layer Type list.
  2. From the Location Dimension list, select the Point of Interest data that you want to visualize.
  3. Select a color from the Palette list.
  4. For geographical locations, select a marker and use the Scale slider to set the size of the markers on your geo map

    These options aren't available for point of interest data that displays shapes or lines.
    Note
    To change the current marker icon, select the arrow next to Type. Select More to view all the available options. You can also create a custom marker; choose Add (the plus sign) under Custom Markers, select Enter SVG Path to directly enter the icon's SVG Path, or select Upload SVG File to load the file containing the icon.
  5. If necessary, adjust the Opacity of the layer.
  6. Select OK to save all layer settings.
