Generate Tasks and Processes Along the Driving Dimension

Use a wizard in the calendar to generate tasks and processes from an organizational dimension.

Prerequisites

You need an existing process that is not in final status and not yet due.

Context

If you have a process and want to quickly add tasks and processes to it, use the Tasks/Processes by Driving Dimension wizard. You will be able to select a hierarchy from the dimensions and select specific members in the hierarchy.

Procedure

  1. In the calendar, select an Inactive or In Progress process.
  2. Choose Start of the navigation path (Add new) Next navigation step Tasks/Processes by Driving DimensionEnd of the navigation path.

    The task generation wizard appears.

  3. Select a model and the dimension to use as the driving dimension, and then select Next.
  4. Set the attributes for defining assignees or reviewers, and then select Next.
  5. Select the members of the hierarchy to include as processes or tasks.

The leaf members are generated as tasks and all other levels become processes.

  6. Select Next.
  7. Set a prefix or use the default process name.

The combination of prefix and task or process name helps you find the related tasks in the calendar.

  8. Select Next.
  9. Preview the list of tasks and processes.

If you want to make changes, you can select Back to go back through the wizard and update your selections.

  10. If everything looks correct, select Generate.

Your tasks and processes are generated and added to the calendar.

Results

When there are too many tasks to display in the Calendar view, a number appears. Select that to see the total number of tasks. In the Gantt view and in the List view the hierarchy is collapsed and can be expanded.
