Archiving the Expanded Database with SRAL_EXPLocate this document in the navigation structure

You use the SRAL_EXP archiving object to archive data in the Expanded Database, which can contain Read Access Logging data from more than one client and system.

Prerequisites

You need the following authorization objects assigned to you:

  • S_ARCHIVE
  • S_RAL_LOG (activity 03), to read and write data to the archive
  • S_RAL_LOG (activity 06), to delete data from the archive

Context

You can use the SRAL_EXP Archive Development Kit (ADK) class to combine this archiving object with another archiving object.

Procedure

  1. Writing data to the archive
    1. Start Archiving Administration (transaction code SARA) and display the archiving object SRAL_EXP.
    2. Select Write and define a variant and a start date. You can use variants to archive configuration data from all or only selected logging components.
    3. Start the archiving.
  2. Deleting archived data from the database
    You can delete data that has been saved to an archive.
    1. Start Archiving Administration (transaction code SARA) and display the archiving object SRAL_EXP.
    2. Select Delete and define a variant and a start date. You can use variants to delete configuration data from all or only selected logging components.
    3. Start the deletion.
  3. Reading data in the archive
    1. Start Read Access Logging Manager (transaction SRALMANAGER).
    2. Go to Start of the navigation path Monitor Next navigation step Read Access Log End of the navigation path.
    3. Under Data SourceSelect Expanded Archive as the Source.
    4. Select the Archive name.
    5. Click Search.
    Alternatively, use SARA to read data from the archive.
