Accessing the Adapter Engines
Use
You use this function to access data in the available
Adapter Engines.Integration
A
Runtime Workbench can access the Adapter Engine for monitoring purposes. To log on you require the technical user XIRWBUSER and the password XIPASS, but no other authorizations. This user is created automatically when the Adapter Engine is installed. If this user is deleted, or if the Runtime Workbench requires an additional user, create a corresponding user on the Adapter Engine configuration screen. The user to be created only requires the authorization group Locked. For more information, see the Adapter Engine documentation under User Management.Prerequisites
You have started the runtime workbench from the
SAP Exchange Infrastructure start page and have expanded the subnode Adapter Engines in the Exchange Infrastructure structure on the left-hand side of the screen. For information about individual adapters, each adapter instance must be maintained in the System Landscape Directory. This takes places automatically when you start the Adapter Engine.
Features
All available Adapter Engines are displayed under the subnode Adapter Engines. Located under each Adapter Engine is a corresponding adapter. You can select and display each of these components individually.
The type of Adapter Engine or adapter selected, and a description is displayed in the window on the right-hand side of the screen. The respective application system is also displayed for Adapter Engines. Furthermore, you can call the
configuration screen of the Adapter Engine by choosing Administrations Tool, query the status of the Adapter Engine, carry out a self-test, and check configuration parameters.Activities
If data for an Adapter Engine is displayed in the window on the right-hand side, you have the following options:
The status of the Adapter Engine is displayed in the form of a traffic light. The individual statuses (red, yellow, and green) are explained by a corresponding short text.
When the status is OK (green), the name of the component, the vendor, the host, and the port number are displayed.
The status of the component is displayed in the form of a traffic light. The individual statuses (red, yellow, and green) are explained by a corresponding short text.
When the status is OK (green), other traffic lights are displayed that always have the status OK. Otherwise, they would not be displayed and the status traffic light would be red or yellow.

The Configuration Parameters tag page is only displayed if the corresponding component is correctly maintained in the System Landscape Directory. If this is not the case, only the Ping and Self-Test tag pages are displayed. If you then choose either Start Ping or Start Self-Test, the system displays a red status traffic light and the message Component not available.
