A summary of the changes in SAP Business Client 6.0.
SAP Business Client 6.0 is the new name for the latest version of SAP NetWeaver Business Client. This name is used throughout this documentation; in documentation for previous versions of the client, the name has not been updated.
For more information on SAP Business Client 6.0, see also the blog on the SAP Community Network (http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver-business-client/blog/2015/10/29/sap-business-client-60-released).
SAP Business Client 6.0 offers an additional type of system connection, the Fiori Launchpad connection, allowing the SAP Fiori launchpad to run directly in the SAP Business Client.
The Business Client acts as a Windows desktop browser for the SAP Fiori launchpad with the ability to launch classic Dynpro applications (SAP GUI applications) using an embedded SAP GUI for Windows.
Deployment of SAP Fiori Launchpad on ABAP Front End Server and SAP Enterprise Portal is supported. There are back-end dependencies for the full usage of the Fiori Launchpad connection which is related to SAP Fiori launchpad resources on the front-end server. To be able to render transactions with SAP GUI for Windows, the ABAP front-end server requires at least User Interface Add-On 2.0 SP01 for SAP NetWeaver or component SAP_UI 750 SP01, and the SAP Enterprise Portal requires at least SAP NetWeaver 7.5 SP4. For more information, see SAP Fiori Integration.
The start page of a Fiori Launchpad connection is always the Fiori launchpad home page; if you add a new tab, the Fiori launchpad home page is also displayed.
Using the Quick Launch bar, you can search only for search terms using the client-defined search providers. To search for transactions and applications, you can use the Fiori launchpad search bar.
Side panels for transactions in a Fiori Launchpad connection are available as of SAP Business Client 6.0 PL5.
For more information, see the following topics: System Connections, Quick Launch, Search Types, and SAP Fiori Integration.
The System Selector dialog box now remains open during the use of a system, allowing you to open additional systems more easily. Previously, this dialog box disappeared after the selection of a system.
