Here you can find an overview of security aspects that need to be taken into account for UI technologies in SAP NetWeaver.

Use

Security mechanisms prevent unauthorized and unauthenticated individuals from accessing and reading data. In the user interface (UI) add-on for SAP NetWeaver, these mechanisms are designed so that both users and components perform only those actions that they are allowed to perform. This protects sensitive data and confidential business information, and prevents data from being compromised.

The UI add-on for SAP NetWeaver does not provide an end-user user interface. The user interface used by development is based on standard ABAP technologies. Thus, the standard ABAP security measures also apply to SAP NetWeaver UI services. A user interface for application screens is created by application development. SAP advises application development to consider security when selecting the UI technology to be used. SAP recommends using the UI development toolkit for HTML5 as the UI technology. The UI development toolkit for HTML5 provides its own security features.

The UI add-on for SAP NetWeaver provides information about security aspects regarding its back-end and front-end services.

Apart from these security aspects, the security aspects of the SAP Gateway security guide also generally apply to the UI add-on for SAP NetWeaver.

This document is not included as part of the installation or operations guide. Such guides are only relevant for a certain phase of the software lifecycle, whereas the security guide provides information that is relevant for all lifecycle phases.

Security Aspects for Components

If you use one or more of the additional UI add-on for SAP NetWeaver components, the following security aspects need to be taken into account:
