NWBC for Desktop InstallationLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use
To install SAP NWBC 5.0, you have the following options:
  • NWBC for Desktop
  • NWBC with SAP GUI
Note

You can download the most recent NWBC for Desktop versions and patches from SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/supportInformation published on SAP site. In the Software Downloads area, choose Start of the navigation path Support Packages and Patches Next navigation step A-Z Index End of the navigation path and search for the keyword NETWEAVER BUSINESS CLIENT.

Prerequisites

Operating System

SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) supports Microsoft operating systems which are listed within the SAP PAM (Product Availability Matrix).

Note

NWBC is released for Microsoft Windows 8 desktop mode in combination with Internet Explorer 10 or later for the desktop. Usage with keyboard and mouse is fully supported, but NWBC is not touch-enabled.

Hardware

  • The hardware prerequisites for NWBC for Desktop are the same as for the SAP GUI.

We recommend the following:

  • Hardware requirements are the same as for Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) applications. For more information, see http://windowsclient.net.

  • 1 GB memory at least

    The actual memory consumption depends on the number of open windows.

  • A minimum screen size of 1024x768

Software

  • SAP GUI for Windows 7.40

  • Microsoft .Net 4.5 and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012
    Note Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 is included in SAP NWBC 5.0. If you do not have Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012, it is automatically installed with SAP NWBC 5.0.

  • For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2: Hotfix 919479

Installation Path for Desktop Installation

C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\NWBC50 (on 64-bit OS)

C:\Program Files\SAP\NWBC50 (on 32-bit OS)

Application Data

The personal settings of a user are located in %APPDATA%\SAP\NWBC.

Administrator configuration, such as user settings are located in the following folder:

  • %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\SAP\NWBC for Microsoft Windows Server 2003

  • %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\SAP\NWBC all other operating systems

Global landscape data and predefined system connections are stored in a local landscape repository or in a remote landscape repository. For more details about landscape data, see Connection Configuration.

User-defined connection data is stored in file %APPDATA%\SAP\Common\SAPUILandscape.xml. The path can be changed by users or administrators, and is then persisted in the registry (key name PathConfigFileLocal, HCU/HLM\Software\SAP\SAPLogon\Options, REG_DWORD.

Traces and cache are located in the following folder:

  • %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Application Data\SAP\NWBC\Traces for Microsoft Windows Server 2003

  • %LOCALAPPDATA%\SAP\NWBC for all other operating systems

Application data remains when NWBC is uninstalled.
