 Creating Screen ElementsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You use this procedure to create screen elements in the alphanumeric mode of the Screen Painter. For a short description of all screen elements, see Screen Element Types.

Procedure
  1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the element.
  2. Choose Edit → Create element and select the element you want to insert.

    The Screen Element Attributes dialog box appears.

  3. Enter the attribute values.
  4. The rest of the procedure differs depending on what types of screen elements you want to add to your screen:
    Type of Screen Element Procedure

    Text Field, Input/Output Field, Radio button, Checkbox, Pushbutton

    The Screen Element Attributes dialog box appears.

    1. Enter the attribute elements.
    2. Choose Transfer.

      The system inserts the element where the cursor is.

    Group Box

    The Screen Element Attributes dialog box appears twice - once for the screen element itself and a second time for the label of the element. In both cases, do the following:

    1. Enter the attribute values.
    2. Choose Transfer.
    3. Place the cursor where you want the bottom right-hand corner of the group box to be.
    4. Choose End of box.

      The system displays the group box on the screen.

    Subscreen

    1. Place the cursor where you want the bottom right-hand corner of the subscreen area to be.
    2. Choose Area end.

      The Screen Element Attributes dialog box appears.

    3. Enter the attributes of the subscreen.
    4. Choose Copy.

      The system displays the screen element on the screen as you specified.
