Use

You use this procedure to classify multiple objects in the Classification Toolset.

Procedure
  1. Open the Classification Browser (transaction SCLAS) and on the initial screen, enter your search criteria. For more information, see Looking up Classifications of Objects.
  2. You can change the classification of multiple objects in the Tree Browser and in the List browser.
    1. In the Tree Browser, use the checkboxes in front of the objects to select the objects you want to classify. Selecting the checkbox of a superordinate object selects all subordinate objects up to the level of objects with explicit classifications.
    2. In the List Browser, select the lines of the objects you want to classify. Hold down the Ctrl key to select multiple lines.
  3. In the context menu, choose Change Classifications and the characteristic with which you want to classify the objects. You can also select a subset of characteristics by choosing Change Classifications  → Select Characteristics.

    The Classification Grid window appears.

  4. Choose the required value for the selected characteristic.
    Note

You may be asked for a package and a transport request for the characteristic. You have the option to specify a single package and transport request for all characteristics you want to change.

  5. From the Classify dropdown box, specify the update mode for the classification.

During mass-classification, the Classification Grid does not display all objects and their classifications but one single sample object, that is, a representative for all other objects. The following update modes are possible:

    • Assign: The values of the sample object overwrite the values of the individual objects.
    • Accumulate: The value for the classification is assigned only if the value of the sample object is bigger than the value of the actual object.
    • Subtract: The values of the selected objects are deleted if they coincide with the value of the sample object. This may result in empty classifications. Exceptions are single-valued characteristics with default values - after the subtraction, the default value of the characteristic becomes the effective one.
      Note

Choose Utilities → Settings → Development Coordination to set a default update mode that will always be applied to mass-classifications.

  6. Choose Save.
    Note

You can use the Object List pushbutton to display all objects that are part of the mass-classification.
