Use

You can use this function to maintain the properties of a characteristic in the Characteristics Builder of the Classification Toolset

Features

On the Properties tab page in the Characteristics Builder, you can maintain the following properties for a characteristic:

Property Description

Description

A short description of the characteristic (max. 60 characters) that can be translated and appears in the search help and in the Classification Browser.

Object Type (Group)

An object type or object type group defining the set of objects that can be classified by the characteristic.

Refers to a Value of a Multi-Valued Characteristic

Multi-valued characteristics can have aspects for each of their values (which means that they can refer to a value of a multi-valued characteristic). The individual aspects are single-valued characteristics with two possible values: Applies and Does Not Apply.

Sub-Object Treatment

The following types of links between main objects and their subobjects are possible:

  1. Main objects and subobjects are not related.
  2. Inheritance mode: the subobjects inherit the classification of the main object.
  3. Delegation mode: The classification of the main objects depends on the classifications of all subobjects.

Single-Valued

Defines whether the characteristic may take a single value or multiple values.

Hide Remarks

If this option is set, no remarks are shown in the Classification Browser.

Organization of Classifications

This option defines to what kind of packages the classifications can be assigned:

  1. No restriction: The characteristic can be applied to any object.
  2. Local package: All classifications are stored locally. No transport is possible. This setting is mandatory if the characteristic is local.
  3. Home package: The classifications can be put in any package belonging to the software component HOME.
  4. Transportable package: The classifications can be put in any transportable package.
  5. Package of the classified object: The classification tool automatically puts the classification in the same package as the classified object.
