Importing Texts 

 

Procedure

Direct input methods are used to import the texts into the SAP system. You can call the corresponding direct input program from the LSM Workbench by choosing Start Direct Input Session. 

Some long texts may not be readable from the application after they have been imported. The function module READ_TEXT is used to find the texts, which means that they are saved correctly to the database.

The master data of some applications includes a field (such as TXTSP) that specifies the languages of a long text, or that specifies whether a long text exists. This field is not filled by direct input methods (since this program is valid for all applications; at runtime, there is no information about the application of a text).

There are two possible solutions:

1.       You provide your own report for setting the flag after the import.

2.       In the conversion rules/mapping, an update is coded for the corresponding table; however, this means that the flag is set during the conversion. If the text is not imported later, the flag stays, however, no long text exists.
