This key figure calculates and gives an approximate value of the stock available at the Supply Area. The actual stock in production supply area is then averaged on a daily basis.

The actual quantity of each kanban container with status FULL can be added in a particular control cycle. In the interim, the kanban containers with status IN USE will be eventually used during the shift and the status of these kanban containers will change to EMPTY. However, for calculating the actual stock, the kanban containers with status IN USE will be ignored.

The stock is calculated as a weighted average of the stock level at any given instance of time.

Weighted Stock (in terms of quantity) at Time T =

{Weighted Stock at time T1 * (T1–Start of the Day/Shift) + Stock at time ((T*(T-T1)))}/T

where T1 is the timestamp of previous record and T is the timestamp of current record.

The stock value is rounded off to the nearest integer. The quantity is calculated in terms of base units of measure.
