The plant manager has complete responsibility for the plant, including cost centers, personnel, and production. He mainly has administrative tasks and a management function. The plant manager ensures that the plant goals are in accordance with the corporate or factory goals, as well as with the superior supply chain and subordinate areas. He makes investment decisions and does budget and personnel planning for his plant, while taking central planning into account and coordinating with the areas involved.

He uses various analyses to check whether the following goals are being attained:

• Adherence to budget or cost planning
• Ensuring a sufficient availability of personnel
• Adherence to production requirements (dates, quantities and product quality)
• Long-term improvement of processes
