Procedure documentation Analyzing Query Runtime Statistics  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use the report-report interface (RRI) functionality to analyze the time trends of runtimes. RRIs allow seamless navigation from the iViews to the relevant transaction or query. RRIs ensure:

·        Minimal effort in administration of BI systems

·        Immediate navigation to the transaction or query, optimizing the time taken

·        Optimal system performance

Note

Most RRIs are common to all iViews, but some RRIs are specific to iViews on specific monitors.

Procedure

       1.      In the Detailed Navigation pane, under Query Runtime Statistics, choose <BI Application> Statistics.

       2.      On the <BI Application> Statistics screen, in the BI System Selection area, select a relevant BW System.

Note

<Application> is a BI application, a BI applications object, or an InfoProvider.

       3.      In the context menu of the relevant iView, select an RRI.

BI Applications Performance RRIs

The following RRIs are available on all the iViews that can be viewed in the BI applications performance monitor:

Report-Report Interfaces Common to All iViews

RRI Name

Description

Aggregated Query Runtime Statistics: Analysis

For the selected BI objects, you can view the key figures (in the last 24 hours) with respect to their time trends, deviations, total time taken to successfully execute a BI object, and the time taken for individual layers.

Detailed Query Runtime Statistics: Analysis

For the selected BI object, you can view the execution runtime (in the last 24 hours) for queries, the time taken at each step of query execution, and the number of navigation steps in the query execution.

Data Manager Statistics: Analysis

For the selected BI object, you can view the runtime (in the last 24 hours) details of various events in the data manager. You can also view the number of records selected and transferred from the database.

Manage InfoCube

Starts InfoProvider Administration for the selected BI application. You can view the details of the InfoCube requests for the InfoCube on which the BI application is built, such as the request ID, request status, number of records transferred, number of records added, and source system.

See: Administration of InfoProviders

Display InfoCube

Opens the Display <BI object> page for the selected BI application. You can edit the <BI object> on which the BI application is built as well as the <BI object> structure. For example, you can edit the dimensions, key figures, and attributes for the InfoCube.

Change InfoCube

Starts the Edit <BI object> page for the selected BI application. You can view the <BI object> on which the BI application is built as well as the <BI object> structure. For example, you can view the dimensions, key figures, and attributes for the <BI object>.

Object Overview

Opens the Object Overview page for the selected BI object. You can view the key figures, time characteristics, and characteristics for the InfoCube on which the BI object is built.

Data Flow

Opens the Display Dataflow page of the InfoProvider on which the selected BI application is built. You can view the data flow diagram on this page.

See: Data Flow Display

The following additional RRIs are available on the Runtimes and Deviations in Runtimes iViews for the Query Runtime Statistics Monitor:

Additional Report-to-Report Interfaces for Runtimes and Deviations in Runtimes

RRI Name

Description

Long-Term Trends for BI Application Object Durations

For the selected BI application objects, you can view the runtimes of successful executions during the last 30 days.

Short-Term Trends for BI Application Object Durations

For the selected BI application objects, you can view the runtimes of successful executions during the last 24 hours.

Missing Aggregate Report for Queries

You can view the BI application objects that adversely affect system performance. This includes the:

·        Number of records selected within the database

·        Number of records transferred to OLAP

·        Total time taken to read the data manager
