Use

You can monitor runtimes and deviations from the average runtime of successfully executed BI operations. This information gives you an insight into the system performance and helps you optimize it. You can monitor the following BI operations:

·        Process chains

·        Processes

·        InfoPackages

·        Data transfer processes

Procedure

       1.      In the Detailed Navigation pane, under <BI Operations> Statistics, choose <BI operation>.

       2.      On the <BI operation > screen, in the BI System Selection area, select your BW System.

       3.      Check the following iViews for each BI operation:

Short-Term Trends in Total Runtimes of BI Operations

You can view changes to the runtimes of BI operations executed successfully in the last 30 days. In this iView, you can also see up to five BI operations with the longest runtimes. This iView is graphical and provides the following information:

Information

Description

Duration

Average runtime (in seconds) of BI operations executed successfully in the last 30 days. The value is rounded to the nearest second.

Calendar Day

Date on which the BI operation was successfully executed. By default, the date format is day.month.year (DD.MM.YEAR), for example, 25.09.2006.

<BI operation>

Technical names of up to five BI operations with the longest runtimes.

Long-Term Trends in Total Runtimes of BI Operations

You can view changes to the runtimes of BI operations executed successfully in the last 26 weeks. In this iView, you can also see up to five BI operations with the longest runtimes. This iView is graphical and provides the following information:

Information

Description

Duration

Average runtime (in seconds) of BI operations executed successfully in the last 26 weeks. The value is rounded to the nearest second.

Calendar Week

Calendar week in which the BI operation was successfully executed. The date format is week.year.

Example

Example: 32.2006, 32 means week number 32 of year 2006.

<BI operation>

Technical names of up to five process chains with the longest runtimes.

Total Runtimes of BI Operations

You can view the runtimes of BI operations executed successfully in the last 24 hours and over a period of 30 days. This iView is tabular and provides the following information:

Information

Description

<BI operation>

Technical names of all the BI operations that were successfully executed.

Avg. Dur. 48h

Average runtime (in seconds) of BI operations executed successfully in the last 48 hours. The value is rounded to the nearest second.

Avg. Dur. 30d

Average runtime (in seconds) of BI operations executed successfully in the last 30 days. The value is rounded to the nearest second.

Avg.No.Recs.48h.

Average number of records retrieved by successful execution of DTPs or InfoPackages in the last 48 hours.

Note

This applies only to InfoPackage and DTP statistics.

Avg.No.Recs.30d.

Average number of records retrieved by successful execution of DTPs or InfoPackages in the last 30 days.

Note

This applies only to InfoPackage and DTP statistics.

Deviations in Total Runtimes of BI Operations

You can view the deviation between the average recent duration and the average duration of a successfully executed BI operation. This iView is tabular and provides the following information:

Information

Description

<BI operation>

Technical names of all the BI operations that were successfully executed.

Dev. in %

Deviation (percentage) of the average recent duration (Avg. Dur. 48h) from the average duration (Avg. Dur. 30d).

Avg. Dur. 48h

Average runtime (in seconds) of BI operations executed successfully in the last 48 hours. The value is rounded to the nearest second.

Avg. Dur. 30d

Average runtime (in seconds) of BI operations executed successfully in the last 30 days. The value is rounded to the nearest second.

Dev. in.No. Recs.in %

Deviation (percentage) of the number of records retrieved in the last 48 hours (Avg. Dur. 48h) from the number of records retrieved in the last 30 days (Avg. Dur. 30d).

Note

This applies only to InfoPackage and DTP statistics.

Result

You can identify the BI operations that are adversely affecting system performance. You use RRI functionality to analyze these BI operations.
