You use this process to plan transportation activities in SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) that are based on deliveries transferred from SAP ERP.

Prerequisites

You have created deliveries in SAP ERP. Note that the following restrictions apply:

  • Delivery splits are not supported in SAP TM.

  • Deliveries have to be planned as consignments.

  • The creation of combined inbound and outbound shipments from SAP ERP deliveries is not supported.

  • Changing delivery amounts and items from SAP TM is not supported.

  • Feedback of any data into a delivery is not allowed.

If you carry out transportation execution of freight orders in SAP ERP (see step 3 below), the following additional prerequisites have to be met:

  • You have set the shipment creation relevance for relevant freight order types to Shipment Creation in SAP ERP. For more information, see Customizing for Transportation Management under   Freight Order Management   Freight Order   Define Freight Order Types  .

  • You have assigned an output profile to the relevant freight order types in the same Customizing activity.

  • You have set up a configuration scenario for the TM_ERPShipmentIntegration_Out outbound integration scenario in SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (SAP NetWeaver PI).

  • The freight order meets the following prerequisites:

    • It is in process; it is not blocked for planning or execution; and it is not marked for deletion.

    • It is related to one or more delivery-based transportation requirements. The referenced delivery-based transportation requirements come from one SAP ERP system.

    • A carrier is assigned to the freight order.

Process

  1. You transfer deliveries created in SAP ERP to SAP TM, and the SAP TM system creates delivery-based transportation requirements (DTRs) for the deliveries.

For more information, see ERP Logistics Integration.

  2. You plan your transportation process in SAP TM based on the DTRs, or you have already carried out planning based on order-based transportation requirements (OTRs). During planning, you create freight orders.

    For more information, see Planning.

  3. You carry out transportation execution for the freight orders in SAP TM or in SAP ERP.

If you carry out transportation execution in SAP ERP, the SAP TM system sends the freight orders to SAP ERP, and SAP ERP creates shipments based on the freight orders. You can then carry out further steps in SAP ERP.

The SAP TM system sends a freight order to SAP ERP using the outbound enterprise service Request Transportation Order Execution (TransportationOrderSCMExecutionRequest_Out), which is in the Transportation Order Processing process component. The SAP ERP system receives the freight order and creates a shipment using IDoc SHPMNT05.
