Background documentationSolution: Object-Based Reduction for SAP CRM for Utilities

This migration solution is applicable to the migration of Utilities-specific data in your CRM system.

With this migration solution, you can migrate the following types of data:

  • Transactional Data

You are required to specify the business objects and a data slice date or the migration package ID for SAP Utilities. Specifying the business objects enables the system to migrate all transactional data related to the specified business partners from the sender system to the receiver system. Specifying the data slice date enables the migration of all transactional data not related to the specified business partners based on the data slice date. Specifying the migration package ID for SAP Utilities enables SAP TDMS to copy the selections you made in the migration package for SAP Utilities to the current migration package for SAP CRM for Utilities.

    Note Note

To ensure data consistency in the receiver client for the specified data slice date, SAP TDMS transfers additional transactional data that is business-relevant

    End of the note.
  • Master Data and Customizing Data

SAP TDMS transfers the complete set of master data and Customizing data regardless of the data slice date you specified.

  • SAP ERP HCM Data

You can choose to migrate SAP ERP HCM data based on the data slice date.

Integration

You can carry out data scrambling in the sender system after selecting the data and before transferring the data to the receiver system. SAP TDMS copies the data selected for transfer to a data cluster and scrambles the cluster data before transfer.

Features

This migration solution includes the following phases: Phases

Package Settings

In this phase, you make certain technical settings such as assigning logical system names in the receiver system, excluding user-related data from data transfer, specifying scrambling rules, selecting additional customer-created tables for transfer and so on. In addition, you select the business partners relevant for transfer to the receiver system. SAP TDMS selects all transactional data relevant to the business objects you specified for transfer. You also specify the data slice date. SAP TDMS filters transactional data that cannot be filtered by business objects by the data slice date. Alternatively, you can specify the migration package ID for SAP Utilities from which SAP TDMS copies the selection criteria.

System Analysis

You execute background activities that prepare the migration objects for transfer and generate programs for data deletion.

Data Transfer

In this phase, you execute TDMS header activities to select business process data. You also execute the final checks before data transfer to ensure that no significant changes have taken place in the repository of the sender system while your SAP TDMS project is running.

SAP TDMS deletes the existing data from the receiver client and starts the data transfer. You can lock the users in the receiver system so that no changes take place during data deletion and data transfer.

Post-Transfer Processing

In this phase, SAP TDMS makes a few post-transfer settings in the receiver system such as adjustment of number ranges and adjustment of Business Workplace tables.

If you had set a lock on users in the receiver system during data deletion, you can unlock the users now.

You can clear the temporary tables filled during the data migration in all participating systems.
