Entry and Approval allows users to manually enter data into a Performance Management model and to monitor the data entry effort through a workflow process. Once the data entry process has been completed, you can load the data into the Performance Management model using Entry and Approval.

Use the Entry and Approval section to set default settings for the Performance Management model and to launch the Entry and Approval administrator program.

The Entry and Approval administrator program streamlines the process of populating metrics into the performance management system, reduces the amount of time spent on metrics collection, and alleviates costly errors through a system of workflow steps. Entry and Approval allows organizations to collect metrics without needing to integrate transactional systems or establish a data warehouse for just one or two metrics.

Features

You can do the following in the Entry and Approval section of the Administrator:

  • Set default settings for each Performance Management model to have data entered and loaded in the Entry and Approval component. Entry and Approval default settings are associated with Application Server models, not model connections or contexts. This is because you can have more than one model connection associated with a Performance Management model. Use this screen to set the current period and overall date range for the data, the general workflow steps to be followed in Entry and Approval, as well as which users to function as Entry and Approval administrators. For more information, see Setting Entry and Approval Defaults.

  • Delete all settings and database records from the Entry and Approval database. Using the Set Entry and Approval Defaults link, select the model and then click Remove.

  • Update any existing defaults in the Administrator. If you are using Entry and Approval on an ongoing basis to load data into a Performance Management model, you need to update the current period in the default settings. You may also need to change the Application Server model date range, depending on how you have defined your model and the requirements of your data. You can also add or remove Entry and Approval administrators, and add or remove workflow steps, as well as change other options. For more information, see Updating Entry and Approval Defaults.

    Note Note

You cannot update the Entry and Approval defaults for a given model if the workflow steps have not been completed and the data loaded for the current period.

    End of the note.
  • Launch the Entry and Approval component to control all management and administrative functions within the Entry and Approval component for a particular model. For more information, see Launching Entry and Approval.
