Diagram Properties
You can change the global settings for a number of objects in the diagram such as the diagram's background color and the color and shape for all perspectives and objectives as well as the color of all arrows. You can also indicate whether a status indicator for each objective and perspective is displayed in the published diagram.
Some settings are available only for a specific mode when building the diagram.
Any local changes take precedence over these global settings. If you have previously modified the color or shape of a specific object, you must open the properties for that object and select Default from the color or shape drop-down lists for it to inherit from the diagram's default settings.
You cannot make global changes to the color and shape of context, mission, vision, arrow, or text items. To change these settings, use the local properties for these objects. Local properties are available only when in Design Manually and Custom Image modes.
You can do the following with the diagram properties:
You can specify whether to use a T Template or a Stacked Template. These templates govern the layout and relationships of perspectives and objectives in the diagram.
You must be in Auto-Layout mode to choose a template.
You can choose the background color for the diagram, which is the fill area behind the diagram objects. You can use a default setting to inherit the standard background color for the diagram.
You can also choose the background color for the objects, which is the fill area behind the text. You must have a shape to have a background color. If you have chosen no shape for the object, the background color is picked up from whatever the box overlays.
You can control whether to display status indicators for each objective and perspective in the published diagram. Status indicators follow objective and perspective settings in the Administrator according to the following conditions:
Objective boxes show status indicators if the objectives are associated with the scorecard as well as the strategy and also if the objectives have been associated with KPIs.
Perspective boxes show status indicators if you set them up to be measured by a KPI or by an index of objectives.
The mission statement box shows a status indicator if you set up a global perspective that is measured by a KPI or by an index of perspectives.
When this option is not selected, objectives, perspectives, and the mission statement still show status indicators in their pop-up information boxes if the status indicator has been defined as described in the bulleted list above.
Their position in the published diagram is based on the lower-right corner of the invisible object contours, regardless of the shape of the object itself. The object contours are defined by the green points you see when you select the object.
You can set perspective and objective defaults to specify the shapes and colors of perspectives and objectives in the diagram. These are global settings and will update all perspectives and objectives except those that have been modified individually.
You can choose the shape for the objects or choose to have no shape for the objects.
You can choose the border color for the objects, which is the text and the outline of the objects.
You must have a shape to have a color for the border outline. If you have None for the shape, only the text displays in the color.
You can choose a color for the arrows. This is a global setting and updates all arrows except those that have been modified individually using Properties for Arrow.
You can select a custom image for the diagram using the File button. You must be in Custom Image mode to choose an image file.
In addition, the color and shape settings are for overlay hotspots, which are invisible in the published diagram. Only the imported image will be visible. However, you may want to change the default colors and shapes of the hotspot objects so that you can more easily see and move them into place.
To set diagram properties, select the background and choose . The Diagram Properties dialog box appears.
